They seek to establish a working table of governors of states with mining activity that is headed by the head of the Mexican Ministry of Economy, Tatiana Clouthier Carrillo, to make a proposal and a study on the subject and present it to the President of the Republic, Andrés Manuel Lopez Obrador.
“As a result of our meeting at the mining seminar in Chihuahua, we have carried out our task and have already spoken with three of the five mining governors, Chihuahua, Durango and Sonora, who have expressed great interest in establishing a work group of mining governors, the which we kindly ask you to lead… thank you for your masterful initiative”, the president of Camimex, José Jaime Gutiérrez Núñez, said yesterday to the federal official during his visit to Torreón to participate in the launch of the Safe and Healthy Work Environments Program (ELSSA) in Coahuila.
At the end of the event, Tatiana Clouthier Carrillo avoided talking about the subject with the media.
The only thing he said was that one of the important aspects that have been developed in the area of mining has to do “with what we are doing right now hand in hand with them” and with the United Nations Organization (UN) to promote sustainable mining and replicate the best practices available at the national and international levels.
“And on the other hand, all this part of human rights and the communities that live in a circumscribed way in the areas where their work is carried out and to be able to monitor, in the good sense of the word, that there is a coexistence between work and the good life of the people in the areas”, he explained.
The federal official recalled that the concessions are being reviewed in the part that corresponds to the Ministry of Economy so that the Tax Administration Service (SAT) does the same and then the Ministry of Labor and Social Welfare takes charge of observing the compliance with labor rights.
