Switzerland: present a revolutionary treatment against cancer

A new radiotherapy treatment against tumors, which will use high-energy electron radiation similar to those experimented at the European Center for Particle Physics in Geneva (CERN), has been presented this Friday at the Swiss hospital where it will start operating around 2025.

The treatment, in whose research CERN itself has been involved, holds out great promise for increasing the efficacy of radiotherapy.

In addition, this new modality of approach reduces costs and also lowers the exposure of the human body to radiation to just a few milliseconds, thereby reducing possible side effects.

This important oncological advance was presented today at a ceremony at the Vaud University Hospital Center (Lausanne), where a special bunker will be built for the device with which the treatment will be carried out.
