Supermarket shooting leaves at least 10 dead in Buffalo, New York

Several people have been injured in a shooting at a supermarket in the US city of Buffalo, New York, according to local police, who announced that the attacker has been arrested.

According to a brief message from the city’s Police Department, the event took place at the Tops supermarket near downtown Buffalo, a city located in the far north of New York state.

“Several people have been hit by gunfire. The shooter is in custody.”the Police wrote in a Twitter message without offering details about their number or their status.

According to Buffalo News, there are a total of 10 dead and three injured. One of the victims is a retired officer.

“It’s like walking into a horror movie, but it’s all real. It’s like Armageddon. It’s so overwhelming,” a police officer told the Buffalo News.

The identity of the arrested suspect was also not released.

The governor of New York, Jathy Hochul, has written a tweet assuring that she is closely following what happened and that she has offered support to local forces.

However, the official did not give further details.

According to a witness quoted by channel ABC7, between 20 and 30 shots were heard.
