Today at 9 o’clock, in the Pantheon of the Glories of the North located in the Basilica Cathedral, the deposit of floral offerings, a religious invocation and a touch of silence were made.
The people of Salta pay tribute to him, in addition to the passage of more than 7,000 gauchos from forts in the capital and the interior of Salta, as well as gaucho delegations from neighboring provinces and the south of the country. Today marks the 201st anniversary of the death of General Güemes, which occurred on June 17, 1821.
The Star Guard was a gaucho vigil that recalled the previous hours, the agony of the National Hero, for ten days in the Horqueta Gorge, after being mortally wounded in an ambush by royalist troops.
