Sáenz led the central acts in tribute to Güemes

The governor Gustavo Saenzaccompanied by his wife Elena Cornejo, today led the central acts in commemoration of 201 anniversary of the death of General Martín Miguel de Güemes.


“Today is an important day for Salta and all Argentines because General Güemes is a Father of the Nation,” said the Governor.


On this new anniversary of the passage to immortality of the national gaucho hero, Sáenz highlighted that this year Güemes, more than 200 years after his death, has received just recognition by including his effigy in the family of Argentine banknotesalong with our other two greatest heroes: Juan José de San Martín and Manuel Belgrano. “Salta is Argentina and today the whole country recognizes it”I consider.

The events began in Pantheon of the Glories of the North of the Basilica Cathedralwhere monsignor Mario Cargnello made the religious invocation. This year, associations, gaucho groups, cultural centers and academies from all over Salta and from Argentine provinces such as Mar de Plata, Jujuy, Tucumán, La Rioja, Córdoba, Buenos Aires.
