Who hasn’t played cops and robbers? Thursday, November 24, 2022, at station multisport complex, to Havre (Seine Maritime), the police agreed to switch sides. The aim was to introduce their profession to the 120 fifth and fourth graders of the Gerard-Philippe college, under the “Prox” device.

A first in Le Havre

It’s’Raid Adventure association, composed of volunteer police officers, which organizes this day police-population rapprochement for the first time in the Océane city, within the republican reconquest districts (QRR) Old Center and Mont Gaillard.

We want to break the clichés and stereotypes towards the police, such as violence, racism… With sport, young people have another approach.

They have to handcuff a thief

Various workshops have been set up. On one of them, an agent played the role of a thief… of a kebab. Four college students had to handcuff him and bring him before the judicial police officer. All this under the eyes of an onlooker (played by another agent), who was filming the whole scene. The objective was to show that it is sometimes necessary to get together to challenge a refractory individual without hurting him.

“A Citizenship Project”

Young people let off steam, have fun, but remain attentive. “It’s a citizenship project,” explains Stephane Simon, the principal of the college. We want there to be a better knowledge and relationship with the police. »

In the shoes of a CRS

Next, students learn to shoot with laser guns. Others discover the grips and techniques to handcuff and control an individual.

On the ground floor, between the football and boxing workshops, they put on CRS equipment and have to overcome obstacles without dropping their defense stick.

“The police inspire me”

Among them, three thirds asked to participate in the event. Emma wants to pursue a career in occupational safety. “I am very strict and I want to discover the world,” she says. The police don’t scare me, they inspire me. »
