Parking, transport… How to get to the Grand Parade of the Interceltic Festival of Lorient?

Sunday August 7, 2022thousands of spectators will go to Lorient (Morbihan) to attend the Great Parade of the Celtic Nations of Interceltic Festival. Getting around in the city of five ports will not be easy. We take stock of what you need to know.

Streets closed to traffic

Several streets can no longer be used by motorists during the festival. This is the case for the streets perpendicular to the Quai des Indes, namely rue Cambry, rue de la Patrie, rue Xavier de Langlais and rue Poissonnière. Rue de l’hôtel Gabriel, parking is prohibited except during the first weekend of the festival.

Driving and parking on Quai des Indes, Quai de Rohan and Mansion is prohibited from 11 a.m. to 5 a.m. A ban on parking and driving on the Le Corre bridge is also in effect from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. And, in front of the Palais des Congrès, the road is closed to traffic from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m.

Since Friday August 5, the streets of Tour des Portes, Benjamin Delessert, Sarah Bernhardt, Jean Le Coutaller and Professor Emile Mazé have also been closed to traffic.

Where to park to get to the Grand Parade?

On the day of the Grand Parade, venturing into the streets of Lorient looking for a place to park can seem like a headache. Especially since parking will be prohibited on the course from Saturday August 6 at 7 p.m.

Three relay car parks located on the outskirts of the city provide parking. They are located at the exhibition center of Lancasterat the shopping center of Lorient as well as at the shopping center of Riantec. Shuttles will then make it possible to reach the festival from 7 a.m.

How to get there by public transport?

A special transport system will be set up by Lorient agglomeration to facilitate the movement of festival-goers. For the Grand Parade on August 7, specific lines are planned to quickly access the city center and thus leave your vehicle in a relay car park.

  • Blue Line: from Lanester Parc des Expositions
  • Green Line: from Lorient Commercial Center K2
  • Red lines: from Locmiquélic Lann er Velin and Rue du Stade (via maritime connections)
  • Orange Line: from Lorient Fishing Port
  • Boats between Lorient Fishing Port and Port-Louis La Pointe and Lorient Quai des Indes and Locmiquélic Pen Mané

Of the rotations are scheduled every 5 to 15 minutes from 7 a.m. to 9:30 p.m.
