National Guard coordinator in Zacatecas dies in confrontation

General José Silvestre Urzúa Padilla, coordinator of the National Guard in Zacatecas, died in an armed confrontation.

According to local media, the shooting occurred on Thursday the 24th and lasted for several hours. in the limits of Zacatecas and San Luis Potosí.

The National Guard explained that Commissioner Urzúa Padilla lost his life in the line of duty by participating in a joint operation against organized crime.

“We express our deepest condolences to the family and friends of Commissioner Urzúa Padilla, whom we will remember as an exemplary commander, who gave his life to protect the public.”

The ADN40 outlet reported four deaths, including the general, and five wounded.

Governor David Monreal confirmed the death of the coordinator and expressed his condolences through social networks. “We will not rest in our fight to pacify the state and deal with crime, the desire to which the general gave his life,” he said.
