Man crashes into US Capitol barricade and kills himself

A man committed suicide this Sunday with a firearm after crashing his car into a barricade of the US Capitol in Washington DC, and shooting several times in the air, authorities reported.

According to a statement from the Capitol Police, the events occurred after 4:00 in the morning (8:00 GMT) when the car hit a vehicle barrier installed on East Capitol Street, a few meters from the building that houses the House of Representatives and the United States Senate.

The driver then got out of the burning vehicle. fired several shots into the air along the street and committed suicide when Capitol Police officers arrived at the scene.
