Karl Urban’s ‘Dodgy’ Cockney Accent in The Boys Called ‘Worst Ever’

After the third season of The boys launched earlier this month, viewers are criticizing Karl Urban’s Cockney accent – some say it’s the ‘worst ever’.

The first episodes of the new series premiered on Amazon Prime Video on Friday, June 3, with the rest of the season dropping periodically weekly.

Since the release of the last episode, many people have understood the specific English accent that the New Zealander put on for the role of Billy Butcher, a character who grew up in the East End of London.

One person tweeted: “Karl Urban has probably the worst cockney accent ever. »

Someone else agreed: “I like the boys, despise the English accent of Karl Urban, yes we exist. »

A third added: “Karl Urban has the worst fake accent of any actor currently working to the point that he is almost impressive. »

A fourth said: “And you’re telling me that’s a BRITISH accent that Karl Urban is trying to do in The Boys? »

It’s something fans have noticed before, with one previously tweeting, “Thought I’d try Amazon’s ‘The Boys’ last night. I wasn’t expecting much… I broke everything. I went to bed after 3 am. I really enjoyed it. Well, except for Karl Urban’s dodgy Cockney accent.

While some discuss Urban’s accent, others voice their support for the Kiwi actor to take on another, even more iconic role, following a tweet that has gone viral:

Yes, many fans believe Urban would make the perfect Wolverine – the actor having also appeared on Reddit’s star wishlist to portray the character on the big or small screen now that Jackman has hung up the adamantium claws for the last time.

Stuart Heritage of the Guardian broke the news to Urban.

” I say [Urban] this is a place where if you search for Karl Urban you will find hundreds of cropped photos of his face on Wolverine’s body,” Heritage wrote following a recent interview with the star of The boys.

And Urban’s response? He burst out laughing.

“It’s flattering, but you have to think about it rationally,” Urban said. “What am I, two years younger than Hugh Jackman? »

Urban is actually four years younger than Jackman, but that’s neither here nor there.

“I mean, if I was a studio looking to cast someone as Wolverine, I’d cast someone I’d shoot three movies from,” Urban said.

“You won’t get three Karl Urban movies unless you want a 65-year-old Wolverine. »
