Jalisco libraries receive more than 6 thousand books within the framework of GCML


The public libraries of the Metropolitan Area of ​​Guadalajara and some of the interior of the state, will celebrate Guadalajara, World Book Capital (GCML) with the arrival of more than 6,600 books, which will be added to the collection of 40 libraries in Jalisco, thanks to the joint work between the federal Ministry of Culture, the Ministry of Culture ( SC) of Jalisco through its Department of Operations and Cultural Programming; and the town hall of Guadalajara.

Aware that new collections are always necessary and well received by users in library facilities, the SC Libraries Office negotiated with the federal government the donation of new collections for municipalities such as Atemajac de Brizuela, Chimaltitán, Mezquitic, Villa Guerrero, Hostotipaquillo or Chiquilistlán, to name a few. While in Guadalajara, the host city of the world capital, there will be a new collection for all its libraries; that is, in addition to the Public Library of the Army and Air Force, the ‘Agustín Yáñez’ Library, the Central Public Library ‘Prof. Ramón García Ruiz’ and the ‘Dr. Delfino Gallo Aranda’, from the Patio de los Ángeles, belonging to the SC of Jalisco.

Within this framework, a total of 6 thousand 671 books and 87 multimedia materials that will be in 24 libraries in the interior of the state and in the 17 of the municipality of Guadalajara; These collections are stored in the Central State Library awaiting their final destination in the coming days. The collections are made up of books on the history of Mexico, universal literature, memoirs of great people, as well as texts dedicated to the entire revolutionary movement in the country. Valuable copies dedicated to Law are also included, others with a gender perspective, songbooks, biographies, some texts on sexual education; and some more of culture and artistic expressions.

This joint effort between federal, state and municipal authorities will allow the libraries of Guadalajara and other municipalities to offer their users new content and May these venues continue to strengthen as spaces for culture, recreation, and peace.
