Harry Styles stars in Gucci campaign

After having transformed the One Directioner into one of the most important casanova in pop music, Alessandro Michele has just unveiled a capsule collection made with long-time Gucci inspirer Harry Styles.

the new collection

Styles’ first official fashion shoot is great. owns all 1970s tailoring and grumpy teddy bear prints, on display at a vintage store in Milan. The new collection exploits the timeworn tradition of fashion.

In an accompanying press release, Michele explained the genesis of the project: “The idea of working together came to me one day while we were talking on the phone, I proposed to create a ‘dream wardrobe’ with it, from those little oddities that come together in children’s visions. We ended up with a mix of aesthetics from ’70s pop and bohemian to revisiting the image of the gentleman in a memoir turned to masculine tailoring.”

As the designer says, this translates to “tailored suits, treated denim jackets and velvet suits in irregular hues, pajamas and bowling shirts in unexpected prints, lined coats with hoods and frog closures, and pleated kilts with leather drawstrings.”

Harry loves Gucci

Perhaps the most proliferating muse-master relationship today. Throughout his solo career, Styles’ most recognizable looks have come via Gucci’s atelier— like the Vogue ballroom dress, feather boa, and Dorothy costume she wore to her 2021 “Harryween,” not to mention all the ad campaigns, Met Gala appearance, and hand-scrawled Fine Line merch.

With its nice nails, pearl necklaces, sweater vests and kitschy collared shirts, it’s usually the Harry Stylese look. Michele and hairstylist Harry Lambert’s work presents more challenges than it shows.

“Harry has an incredible sense of fashion. Observing his ability to combine clothes in an unusual way compared to the standards required by taste and common sense and the homogenization of appearance “said the designer.

“I came to understand that the styling of a look is a generator of difference and power, as are his reactions to the designs I have created for him, which he has always made his own, these reactions give me a wave of freedom every time”, Michelle finished.
