Frenchman Johann Zarco took pole in record time at Silverstone

The Frenchman Johann Zarco, with Ducati, today broke the Silverstone circuit record and took pole position in the British Grand Prix, which for the twelfth round of the specialty championship will be held tomorrow on the British circuit.

Zarco set a time of 1:57.767 to cover the 5,901-meter extension of the British track and surpassed by four thousandths the best mark in the history of the Silverstone circuit, which had been held by the six-time champion, the Spanish Marc Márquez, since 2019.

The championship leader, the Frenchman Fabio Quartararo (Yamaha), finished fourth and will start two places ahead of the escort, the Spanish Aleix Espargaró (Aprilia), who finished sixth after having a serious accident in FP4 that almost left him out of the Weekend.

The Italian Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati) finished in fifth place and in this way Ducati will have three representatives in the first two rows.
