Environment continues with the control of fishing residues in the Valdés peninsula

The Ministry of the Environment and Sustainable Development of the Nation, led by Juan Cabandié, together with the Ministry of the Environment of Chubut, carries out inspection days related to the cleaning of waste from the fishing industry in the Valdés peninsula.

In this sense, a waste collection scheme began today in different areas of Cormoranes beach, located on the aforementioned peninsula, which will have the collaboration of personnel from the Environmental Control Brigade (BCA), of the Environmental Policy Secretariat in Natural Resources and the National Parks Administration —all of them, organizations that are part of the national portfolio of Environment—; of Tourism and Protected Areas of Chubut; and the Vida Silvestre Foundation, among other NGOs.

It is worth mentioning that the Minister of Environment and Sustainable Development, Juan Cabandié, met last Friday with the Undersecretary of Fisheries and Aquaculture of the Nation, Carlos Liberman, in order to agree on aspects related to the cleaning of waste in the Valdés peninsula.

Likewise, the national Ministry of the Environment will meet with various fishing chambers to install a video surveillance system on the vessels to strengthen control and environmental care. In addition, by means of a joint resolution between the national environmental portfolio and the Undersecretary of Fisheries and Aquaculture of the Nation, the vessels will be forced to carry clamps to be able to carry out squid fishing tasks.

Work will also begin with the fishing sector and the Argentine Naval Prefecture to implement a scheme aimed at monitoring the number of boxes and total plastic elements of the ships from their departure and until their return to the port. This measure will seek to link the waste with the ships that generate it and mitigate the environmental impact on the beaches.

The secretary of Environmental Policy in Natural Resources, Beatriz Domingorena, is part of the entourage that accompanies the tasks.
