Calls heard in real time and letters of no more than three pages: the ways in which “El Chapo” Guzmán is watched inside prison

Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzmanfounder of the Sinaloa Cartel and one of the most dangerous drug traffickers in history, is being held in the ADX Florence maximum security prison in Colorado, after being extradited to the US in 2019.

In this prison, the famous drug lord is under a strict security and surveillance regime by various government institutions because Guzmán Loera is serving a life sentence.

The ability to influence “El Chapo” makes the drug trafficker spend his days in prison under this strict prison regimeaccording to the US Department of Justice.

Within this surveillance regime, The FBI, the DEA and the Immigration and Customs Enforcement Service review all of Joaquín “El Chapo” Guzmán’s letters, messages, calls and visits of any kind.

According to the Federal Bureau of Prisoners (BOP), The 13 letters that the former leader of the Sinaloa Cartel has sent to his loved ones have been meticulously examined and read by the three aforementioned institutions.

Likewise, this institution assured that the letters that “El Chapo” receives are also reviewed and must not exceed three pages on both sides.

The calls made and received by the dangerous drug trafficker are reviewed, since the authorities listen to them in real time and an interpreter translates the informationa situation for which Joaquín Guzmán must warn 14 days in advance.
