Alexis Valdés sends condolences to victims of fire in Matanzas

Cuban actor and comedian Alexis Valdes sent condolences to the individuals and families affected by the fire that broke out in Matanzas this Friday and that has not yet been controlled.

“My condolences to all the victims of the fire in the beautiful and beloved Matanzas. I have beautiful memories of that province and its people. Hopefully it will soon be controlled with international aid and the good will of all. My love for all Matanzas people, “he wrote the also director on his social networks, along with several photos of the catastrophe.

His words were joined by hundreds of his followers.

Another artist who sent his best wishes for the tragedy at the Matanzas Supertanker Base was the singer Leoni Torres: “God protect all my people from Matanzas.”

“My prayers for the victims of this disaster and their families. My wish that they can control the fire and that there are no more people in danger,” actress Yuliet Cruz, Leoni’s wife, wrote.

The humorist Ulises Toirac said this Saturday morning that he was “very concerned about the situation in Matanzas as a result of the fire that by all accounts is of very considerable magnitudes. My solidarity with all the injured and their families.”

The fire in Matanzas and the subsequent explosions of two oil deposits have so far left one dead and 77 injured. In addition, 17 firefighters who were in the closest area trying to prevent the spread of the fire are missing.

The Cuban authorities recognized that the fire continues to grow and they still do not have a strategy to control it. The United States offered technical advice to the Cuban specialists and the state company Petróleos México (PEMEX) sent trained personnel to assist in firefighting efforts.
