EA SPORTS has announced the first brand new event in FIFA 22 Ultimate Team (FUT), but the Road to the Knockouts should look familiar to fans.
The Road to the Knockouts promo in FUT 22 will include three card types.
With the Ones to Watch (OTW) objects, the still young FUT 22 season has already received its first dynamic special cards, the next selection is not long in coming. The developer has announced that it will start the Road to the Knockouts (RTTK) promo on Friday evening at 7 p.m. – a first in the history of Ultimate Team.
However, too much guesswork about the content of the event has not broken out within the community. The Road to the Knockouts is likely to be a modified form of the Road to the Final (RTTF) from previous years. Selected players from Champions League and Europa League clubs were given dynamic objects, whose overall rating was able to increase by reaching milestones in the competitions.
Live debut for the Conference League
The RTTK promo should work in a similar way, but set for a shorter period of time: According to the name, the upcoming trip only took the respective cards to the knockout phase, the upgrade options should therefore be exhausted in the rest of the group phase. While the RTTF event only provided the first boost with qualification for the round of 16 or the intermediate round in the Europa League, the RTTK will probably focus on the four remaining group games.
A third card category is also new: in addition to the well-known UCL-Live and UEL-Live objects, some players in the Europa Conference League, which will be played for the first time this season, will also be equipped. This conclusion at least allows the current FUT loading screen, which announces the RTTK and shows the designs of three objects – the one on the right bears the Conference League crest.
Successor promo already planned?
It is still unclear whether the support for the European cup competitions in FUT 22 is already fully covered by the Road to the Knockouts or whether EA SPORTS will follow a Road to the Final for the knockout phase. The dynamic live maps are one of the most popular objects every year, as they take up what is happening on the real lawn and, through upgrades, often enable overall ratings in the mid to high 90s range.
