This Thursday begins the trial in the Federal Oral Court 2 for the kidnapping of the glass merchant Sergio Martín in 2019.
Those accused of the crime are Américo Argentino Arraigada, Adrián Francisco Pereyra, Julio David Cigoyeneche and Juan Carlos Quinteros, brother of the renowned kidnapper Victor “Mandrake” Quinteros.
The prosecutor of the case, Maximiliano Hairabedian, said that the defendants face serious sentences for aggravated extortion kidnapping and qualified robbery. He expects there to be prison sentences of more than 10 years.
Sergio Martínez (46) was kidnapped on the night of December 27, 2019. The man was returning home from Villa Retiro with his motorcycle from his glassworks. A Volkswagen Suran intercepted him on a country road. The gang of kidnappers grabbed him and took him away.
Around 11 p.m., Sergio’s family received a call asking for a ransom for 100 thousand dollars. After several negotiations, the agreed ransom was 160 thousand pesos.
The amount of money was delivered in a plastic bag in the Güemes neighborhood. Sergio’s brother, in charge of the rescue, saw a white Renault Duster take the money.
At 3 a.m. on December 28, Sergio appeared in Nuestro Hogar 3. As the kidnapped could testify, the criminals kept him constantly moving in different homes.
After several investigations, in June 2020 several raids were carried out in the neighborhoods of November 16, Villa Corina and San Roque, which resulted in the arrest of the five suspects, of whom four were charged.
