Activision wants to advance its new release in hopes of increasing its profits
While so far Activision Blizzard has not confirmed what the new chapter of Call of Duty which should hit stores this year, rumors have been circulating for a long time that the expected reboot of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 should be chosen by the company. According to reports released this week, not only is the title confirmed for 2022, it should also be accompanied by a change in the company’s calendar.
Traditionally, new main chapters in the franchise always make their debut during the month of November. However, this should not happen with the reboot, which can arrive in October as a way to make up for the lower-than-expected sales being recorded by Call of Duty: Vanguard.
According to insider Tom Henderson, an official announcement of the new version of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 should happen during the North American summer (between July and September), accompanied by its release date. While the latest installments in the series always arrived in November, Black Ops 4 was released on October 12, 2018 — and the recent reboot of Modern Warfare also came out in the same month.
Reboot date is still open
According to Henderson, it is not clear how much Activision manages to advance the launch of its title as a way to focus efforts on its promotion. According to him, while there is a chance that the title will hit stores in early October, it is more likely that it will be advanced in just one to two weeks.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Reboot Should Be Accompanied by a Major Call of Duty: Warzone Update few weeks later. The title received the Caldera map along with the launch of Vanguard, and a new change of scenery is expected to accompany the next title in the franchise.
Released in November 2009, Modern Warfare 2 is to this day considered one of the most important titles in the series, taking its popularity to unprecedented levels and helping it to establish itself as one of the most popular games in history. In addition to making adjustments to the story, the prediction is that the reimagining created by Activision Blizzard should bet on a realistic violence system and new mechanics that will assess what morals are followed by players.
