Kanye West’s “Hurricane” Is The First Single From “DONDA” To Go Platinum

In addition to Kanye West, Lil Baby & The Weeknd also went platinum.

Kanye West was very successful at the end of the American summer with the release of Donda. His latest oeuvre marked his tenth studio album in his illustrious career, and once again he’s brought the best artists in the rap world to life to bring the project to life. Donda includes features from Jay Electronica, Jay-Z, Playboi Carti, Travis Scott, and many others, but it was the single “Hurricane” that fans were most looking forward to.

Although several versions of the sound appeared well before DONDA, Kanye finished the single with contributions from The Weeknd, who handles the chorus, and Lil Baby. When the record came out the song was on the cusp of being a hit and its recent RIAA certification says so. After peaking at #6 on the Hot 100, the single has officially reached platinum status.

Furthermore, Kanye also secured a third certification for “Jail” ft. Jay-Z, who is now certified gold. It looks like he’s already gearing up for the album’s sequel. Steven Victor previously stated that Donda 2 is currently in the works. While Ye is now worried about his new girlfriend Julia Fox, he was recently seen in the studio with Moneybagg Yo, Antonio Brown and The Game in what could be a collaboration for Donda 2.

“Ye has begun work on his new masterpiece DONDA 2,” music entrepreneur Steven Victor told exclusively to Complex. There’s no word on when fans can expect to hear more about Donda 2, but Steven’s use of the word “masterpiece” certainly indicates that it will be worth the wait.
