(Ottawa) The victory attributed to Liberal Pascale St-Onge remains valid.
A liberal source told Press, Tuesday evening. The Bloc candidate, Marilou Alarie, whose party had called for a count, conceded defeat on her website in a message entitled “At arm’s length”, in which she said she was “proud of the work accomplished”.
The riding of Brome – Missisquoi was owned by Liberal Lyne Bessette. The former Olympian announced her departure a month before the election was called, for personal reasons. She will have served for a single term, from 2019 to 2021.
This riding was the last to be contested in Quebec, which will therefore be represented in the House of Commons by 35 Liberals, 32 Bloc members, 10 Conservatives and a New Democrat. This is the same configuration as when Parliament was dissolved last August.
