Jose Manuel De La Sota He never left sport aside within his social or management policies, to the point that in his three terms of office he made significant contributions in this regard.
In April 2014, when General Paz Juniors celebrated its centenary as a club, José Manuel De la Sota united his passion for both in one sentence. He was the guest of honor for the celebration of Juniors, whose leadership promoted the idea that De la Sota was honorary president of the club.
When he took office, he was the mentor of the Córdoba Sports Agency, to modernize and streamline the structure.
The first head of the Agency was Horacio Manzur, later giving way to representatives of the sport in public management, such as Medardo Ligorria, Héctor Campana, Emeterio Farías and Agustín Calleri.
His passion extended to motorsport, and he gave a strong push to the creation of the Córdoba Rally Team, with Cordoba champions competing around the world. He also defended Córdoba as the venue for the World Rally.
Taking into account the representation of motorsport in the Province, he set up the famous “Córdoba Rally Team” with Gabriel Pozzo as captain, with provincial subsidies, back at the beginning of the millennium. Later in 2004, with private contributions, he supported the creation of the “Tango Rally Team”, which had Marcos Ligato as its main figure.
Tennis, his weakness, and therefore his friendship with David Nalbandian, whom he admired. Not forgetting that he also sponsored the incursion into Agustín Calleri’s politics.
It led to the creation of tennis courts at the Kempes where the Córdoba Open is held. He played tennis, took classes at the Córdoba Lawn Tennis Club.
The former Governor also liked Boxing and supported several people from Cordoba.
He was in charge of the inauguration of the synthetic field hockey field that bears the name of “Soledad García” in what is now the Kempes Sports Center.
