A few months ago, the first leaked copy of the jersey appeared on the Internet. At first glance, however, something crucial was missing from the vest: the club’s coat of arms. The fans ran storm. However, supplier Puma has a whole range of jerseys with a similar design and without a crest in its range this season.
The club responded with a tweet: “Your criticism of the cup jersey for the new season has been received. The leaked jersey does not look what it will look like. So please be patient.”
After the violent reactions of the fans, the jersey has now been changed and only presented with a significant delay: At the start of the first premier class appearance of Dortmund in Istanbul.
The BVB professionals appeared at Besiktas with a barely visible coat of arms, which was printed heavily faded on the left chest. At the same time as the start of the game, the new jersey was also available in the club’s online shop. However, you had to queue up there to catch a glimpse of the jersey. There you could see that the logo and jersey are tone on tone, that was already the case with a special jersey at BVB in December 2019. In addition, the lettering was changed: In the original version, Dortmund was on the chest, now BVB 09. How many textiles actually went over the counter, remained open for the time being.
Especially BVB marketing director Carsten Cramer received a lot of criticism from the fans. Cramer had recently reported on the difficulties of his work in “kicker meets DAZN”.
