Half of Mexicans will be infected with Covid in the following weeks, predicts influenza czar

MEXICO CITY.- Alejandro Macías, infectologist and former commissioner against influenza in the country, anticipate that at least half of the population of Mexico will be infected in the following weeks, due to the high spread of the omicron variant of Covid-19.

The doctor assured that: “Never has an infectious disease been transmitted with the speed that the Omicron variant does. At this rate in Mexico, half of the population will be infected in the following weeks.”

Macías added that “as far as we know, no virus has been transmitted globally in the history of the world with the speed that the omicron variant is doing.”

How long will omicron last in Mexico?

The infectologist indicated that the presence of ómicron in Mexico will not end at the same time throughout the countryIt will be by region.
