Game Freak offers an overview of Pokémon Legends: Arceus

Game Freak and The Pokémon Company published a video that gives an overview of everything that awaits you in Pokemon Legends: Arceus, which debuts on January 28 on the Nintendo Switch.

The game is developed by Game Freak, and much of the hype around it is that it is a twist on the typical formula of Pokémon, this time with a lot of influence from the wonderful The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.

Broadly speaking, we can say that Pokémon Legends: Arceus he will keep the objective of exploring a region and capturing dozens of pokémon. However, this time instead of visiting cities with gyms to conquer and stores where you buy all kinds of items for your adventure, you will have to travel a much more natural world, full of wild pokémon, as well as collect many items to make others, like pokeballs or the always useful potions.

The truth is that the game essentially maintains the mechanics that have evolved with the canonical titles of the series. For example, as reminiscent of Pokémon Red Y Pokémon Blue, you can throw food at some wild pokémon to distract them and capture them more easily, just like it was done in the Safari Zone.

Also, and in clear reference to Zelda Breath of the Wild, you will have different pokémon to explore the Hisui region, a kind of primitive form of Sinnoh. A Wyrdeer (a kind of reindeer pokémon) will do Epona’s, while Link’s parasail will be a Braviary. For lakes, the utility pokémon will be a Basculegion.

In sum, Pokémon Legends: Arceus looks promising. Who knows if it captures the attention of players who find the true charm of the series in competitive play, but it definitely looks interesting to say the least. We will tell you what we thought.
