With a inflation above 50% year-on-year, the Government seeks freeze the price of food most important items of the basic basket during 90 days.
Paula Español left her post as Secretary of Internal Trade on Saturday and was replaced by Roberto Feletti. The brand new secretary met with businessmen of mass consumption and agreed that the value of more than 1,200 products will be frozen until the beginning of next year.
In this way, the Government will freeze prices of the main products of the basic basket for 90 days. The agreed food products should remain unchanged until at least January 7, 2022.
What products does it include?
The Government’s objective is to expand the list of Care Prices from the current 670 products to about 1,245 products. They include food (such as peas, oil, cheeses, noodles, hamburgers or dulce de leche), drinks (coffee, beer, milk, soft drinks or juices), toiletries (deodorant, shampoo, conditioner, soap, toothpaste) and cleaning (swab, sponge, bleach, furniture polish, among others). Tomorrow the complete list of the products that will “freeze” their prices will be known.
How will the freeze be implemented?
As explained AboveTomorrow each company must present the list of prices in force as of October 1 for approval. The document must be certified by the company itself and the prices must freeze until next year. This includes the bonuses and discounts that they make to the different commercial channels.
