Formula 1 | Massa: “This season reminds me of the Senna-Prost duel”

There are only two races left for the F1 world championship and everything is still to be decided. Only eight points separate Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton who must be given credit for finally giving us duels that have not been seen in Formula 1 for some time.

A rivalry that, according to former driver Felipe Massa, recalls that between Ayrton Senna and Lewis Hamilton:

“It’s not just the battle, but the personality of these two riders is something fans love to see and support”, the Brazilian told Formula 1.com.

“I think it’s great. We all know Senna and Prost. We can not forget. This is a similar situation “.

Many were impressed by how calm Verstappen remained throughout the season, despite this being his first experience of a real title fight and Massa recalled when he too found himself fighting for the world championship:

“I was sure I was better than Kimi (Raikkonen, ndr). I was doing a great championship. Unfortunately I had bad races, like Singapore or Hungary and there were other races where we also lost points. Aside from that, I was confident, I enjoyed driving that car. I had the strong mentality to fight until the last lap and do everything possible to win. I’ve always believed I could do it “.

According to Massa, Hamilton does not have the pressure on him having already won seven world titles but it is also true that he has not found himself a tough opponent to beat since 2016:

“We know that in 2016 he had a really strong fight with Nico (Rosberg, ed) and in the end he lost the championship. But he hasn’t had someone as aggressive as Max to fight against and that might change the way of thinking a bit compared to a normal situation. My title battle with Lewis has been a lot calmer than what’s happening with Lewis and Max this year. We know that neither of us will give an inch in any corner ”.
