At least two dead and four injured were left by a pyrotechnic explosion on Wednesday in a house in the municipality of Tultepec, in the State of Mexico, in the center of the country, state authorities reported.
The Attorney General’s Office of the State of Mexico (FGJEM) reported that the deceased are two men, 60 and 21 years old, and there are three wounded women and an eight-month-old baby.
The coordination of Civil Protection of the State of Mexico indicated in a statement that emergency bodies, firefighters and the municipal police of Tultepec were working “to quell and control a fire caused by an explosion registered inside a private home”, located in the aforementioned municipality. .
According to versions of the neighbors, the explosion occurred in a house that operated as a clandestine workshop of pyrotechnics, central activity in the municipality of Tultepec.
On November 10 there was a strong explosion in a pyrotechnics workshop also in Tultepec, a town that is located about 46 kilometers from Mexico City.
These types of accidents are frequent in the municipality of Tultepec, which in the last months of the year intensifies its activity in its many workshops to prepare and sell the pyrotechnic devices that will be used at Christmas.
The most serious incident in recent years occurred in December 2016, when an explosion in the local market caused the death of 42 people.
