EA SPORTS released the “Icon Class” for FIFA 22 on Saturday, four new legends will be available in the upcoming FUT offshoot.
The strongest of the three new icons introduced so far for FIFA 22: Cafu.
105 icons will be playable in FIFA 22 Ultimate Team (FUT), 101 of which are already included in the current title – including, of course, the usual suspects: legends like Pelé, Diego Maradona or Ronaldo as well as fan favorites like Ruud Gullit or Patrick Vieira will again be among the strongest objects in the game. From a German point of view, Lothar Matthäus, Philipp Lahm, Bastian Schweinsteiger, Miroslav Klose and Michael Ballack will be equipped with icon cards, but Jens Lehmann’s return, which has been speculated in some places, has not materialized.
Compared to FIFA 21, EA SPORTS is taking things a lot easier for FIFA 22 with regard to the new additions to the icons: Only four fresh legends complete the selection, compared to eleven in the previous version. Three of them have already been published, the Brazilian Cafu, the Spaniard Iker Casillas and the Dutch Robin van Persie will be available as icons in FUT 22.
Values are already known
As usual, values have already been published for the newcomers; the overview shows the basic, mid and prime versions. Cafu receives the best ratings, the two-time world champion has 88, 90 and 93 points for the overall rating – accordingly, the as yet undisclosed Moments variant should even come to 94 or 95. Casillas follows closely behind, the card of the former Spanish national goalkeeper is equipped with 87, 89 and 92 points.
Van Persie concluded the reveal with an overall rating of 87, 89 and 91 points. The fourth new legend that EA SPORTS would like to announce at a later date is currently still under lock and key.
The Icon Reveal was not too spectacular this year, a full day with various teasers had been scheduled for FIFA 21. This circumstance could also be due to the delayed release of the ratings collective, which will take place on Monday today instead of last Friday.
