Borussia Dortmund, in cooperation with EA SPORTS, has unveiled its own squad’s gold cards for FIFA 22 Ultimate Team (FUT), major upgrades are imminent.
Thanks to a rating upgrade in FUT 22, Erling Haaland becomes the fifth best player in the ST position.
On the EA website for FIFA 22, only the top 22 players in the upcoming FUT offshoot can currently be seen, but a few more have now been officially confirmed. Borussia Dortmund, like Inter Milan or Manchester City, has already been able to present the gold cards of its own professionals.
Unsurprisingly, Erling Haaland is at the top of the team’s internal ranking; with the transition to the FIFA title, the Norwegian has jumped from 84 to 88 points in the overall rating. In his position (ST) there will only be four better rated players in FIFA 22: Robert Lewandowski (92), Cristiano Ronaldo (91), Kylian Mbappé (91) and Harry Kane (90).
Outstanding attributes of Haaland will be the shot (91), the speed (89) and the physique (88) – an adequate illustration of his footballing merits. The BVB podium is completed by Mats Hummels (86) and Marco Reus (85), who are stagnating in their overall ratings.
Youngsters gain, three-way battle in goal
The biggest improvements are the shooting stars Jude Bellingham (79) and Giovanni Reyna (77), who gain ten and nine points respectively. Mahmoud Dahoud (from 76 to 79) is currently flourishing in Dortmund and is being rewarded accordingly.
The two newcomers Donyell Malen (from 78 to 80) and Gregor Kobel (from 75 to 79) are also among the winners.
But BVB also has one or two rating losers. Julian Brandt, for example, loses three points, his overall rating drops from 84 to 81 points. Thomas Meunier got it even worse, after a weak first Bundesliga season he will only have 77 points instead of 81.
Nico Schulz (from 80 to 77), who in the meantime hardly played a role at BVB, is virtually overtaken by reality.
The situation between the posts is particularly curious: Roman Bürki’s overall rating (from 84 to 80) is also reduced in FUT 22 because of his lost regular place.
Kobel has only one point less after his upgrade and Marwin Hitz (78) has also dusted off a gold object – the decision is likely to be more difficult for the FUT players than BVB coach Marco Rose.
