Charles Leclerc promoted coexistence with Carlos Sainz. The Monegasque in fact admitted how the new teammate, who among other things preceded him in the final classification of the 2021 Drivers’ World Championship by 5.5 points, pushed him to progress. The Maranello standard bearer, who this year will face his fourth season in red and the second paired with Sainz, underlined the qualities of the former McLaren mainly that management of the race and tires where in the past Leclerc himself had revealed no few difficulties.
“I think we have learned a lot – said Leclerc, quoted by Crash.net – When you know you have a new teammate, you learn the methodologies with which Carlos approaches race weekends, the way he works, his talent, even his maximum speed, the way he takes corners. He had a fantastic year, obviously he pushed me a lot, a lot to try to perform better in every race and it was extremely interesting to be his teammate. I think perhaps one of Carlos’ strengths is race and tire management, probably this was my weakness in 2019. I have progressed a lot as a driver in 2020 and again this year, part of this year is thanks to Carlos”.
