Young Thug’s Lawyer Criticized The Quality Of Life The Rapper Is Living
Things just seem to be getting worse for Young Thug. After being charged with 7 additional crimes following a police raid on his home, Thug was also denied bail. His label YSL’s legal problems sent shockwaves through the hip hop community, resulting in many calling for Thug’s release and gunna.
Those calls for release took on new urgency today as Thug’s attorney described the conditions under which the rapper is being held. Thug’s lawyer, Brian Steelsaid to TMZ that the influential artist is being kept in complete isolation in a small windowless compartment.
Thug is apparently unable to shave, exercise, or see anyone. Steel went on to note that the lights stay on all day, which means that Thug can barely sleep. Furthermore, Steel spoke of the terribly low quality of the food, referring to “food” sarcastically.
All of these details add up to what Steel describes as a violation of the 8th and 14th Amendments to the United States Constitution. In other words, the lawyer is claiming that Young Thug is being subjected to cruel and unusual punishment.
Thug and the rest of YSL’s troubles began earlier this week when many members of the label were arrested in a 56-count indictment. Many denounced the state of Georgia’s conduct in the case, particularly the use of letters as evidence. Among the defenders of Young Thug and gunna they are Meek Millthe producer metro boom and Adrien Broner.
So far, the judge in the case has yet to rule on Thug’s case.
