Tasha K’s attorney says Cardi B’s past gang affiliation will have an impact on her lawsuit.
Previous gang affiliation Cardi B will have an impact on your case against Tasha K in his recent libel trial. Tasha’s lawyer, Olga Izmaylova, argues that she should have raised the issue during the trial. “For the jury to determine whether Cardi B was defamed, placed in a false light and emotionally disturbed, the jury must know about [sua] gang affiliation because it is an extremely relevant part of who [ela] is,” Izmaylova said in court documents obtained by AllHipHop🇧🇷
“Tasha K made the same argument in response to Cardi B’s request to delete the rapper’s own social media comments. The district court prevented this evidence from arriving. “The district court applied the incorrect legal standard in determining that evidence of character was irrelevant and inadmissible in a defamation action,” Izmaylova continued.
The jury previously considered Tasha K responsible for defamation, invasion of privacy and intentional infliction of emotional distress. The case hinged on comments Tasha made about Cardi’s sexual health a few years earlier. The court ordered her to hand over nearly $4 million as a result of the lawsuit.
“The fact that a jury unanimously reached the conclusion that Cardi B was telling the truth and Tasha K lying does not demonstrate that the latter acted with real malice,” explained Izmaylova. They concluded, “This Court should reverse the amended judgment and resubmit this case for a new trial.”
The legal team of Cardi B asked for Tasha’s appeal to be rejected. In a court case, Cardi’s lawyer, W. Andrew Pequignotdescribed the behavior of Tasha K as “vulgar, tasteless, rude and insulting”.
