The American broadcaster Peacock will soon bring us Vampire Academy, a new series by vampire expert Julie Plec (The Vampire Diaries, The Originals, Legacies). She also directed the ten-episode first season based on the novels by Richelle Mead. The adaptation will start on September 15th, for which a fresh long trailer has now appeared.
“Vampire Academy” promises “a tale of friendship, love and danger“. The series takes place in a world of privilege and glamour. It centers on two young women whose friendship changes when they take completely different courses at vampire school to become part of the vampire community. One of them becomes a powerful royal, the other a half-vampire just an ordinary guardian who keeps an eye on her mentor, who also steadily warms up to her. But both are united in the fight against the evil Strigoi, who wants to destroy the community. Or does the community destroy itself beforehand through the quarreling royals?
Daniela Nieves (Snowfall) stars as Lissa Dragomir – who comes from a noble Royal Moroi family -, Sisi Stringer (“Mortal Kombat“) as a semi-human Dhampir Guardian Rose Hathaway, Kieron Moore (Sex Education) as Dhampir Guardian Dimitri Belikov and Andre Dae Kim (Degrassi: Next Class) as Royal Moroi vampire Christian Ozera.
Also in the cast: J. August Richards (Angel) as Victor Dashkov, Anita-Joy Uwajeh (Stan Lee’s Lucky Man) as Tatiana Vogel, Mia Mckenna-Bruce as Mia Karp, Rhian Blundell as Meredith Beckham, Jonetta Kaiser as Sonya Karp and Andrew Liner (Grown-ish) as Mason Ashford.
Already in 2014 there was an adaptation of the material in the form of a movie starring Zoey Deutch and Lucy Fry.
