Christopher McQuarrie said more about the seventh film in the cult action saga starring Tom Cruise and explained the title Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning.
The series of action / spy films launched by Brian De Palma in 1996 is certainly with the British agent in the service of Her Majesty the most famous franchise of the genre. If the notoriety of Impossible mission has been proclaimed since 1966 with the soap opera of which the filmmaker behind Double Bodysuit pulled a sequel, now the face that is associated with the name is indeed Tom Cruise and his sick crazy stunts.

So sure, in the podcast Light The Fusethe director had already returned to this question in August 2022, except thathe had given a less explicit answer. He had mentioned that the title initially applied more to part 2 than to the first. However, it was after reshaping the beginning of the film that the seventh opus would also have deserved the surname Dead Reckoning. In any case as much as his successorgaining in significance as McQuarrie dug deep into the arc of Ethan Hunt and the other characters.
