Johnny Depp will go to court again on assault charges, but not on Amber Heard

Barely finished the trial against Amber Heard, that Johnny Depp will again find himself in court this year. In question a violent behavior which goes back to a few years, whereas the actor would have been under the influence of alcohol.

Reminder of the trial

The trial between Johnny Depp and Amber Heard was ultra-publicized to the point of having been followed by millions of people, like a series, with its twists and its outcome. This is evidenced by the actor’s arrival by car during the final verdict, where a crowd of faithful was waiting for him to galvanize him.

A verdict that resulted in a victory for the star of Pirates of the Caribbean, Amber Heard must thus pay him a sum of 15 million euros. But beyond the financial aspect, the case has had an impact on the professional career of the actress, since Warner Bros. would have decided to fire the actress from the DCEU, and remove it fromAquaman and the Last Kingdom.

New detour through the courthouse

Johnny Depp therefore seemed to be the big winner of the legal battle, and yet. The trial has undoubtedly revived old memories and old files, since the actor will again find himself in court, for a case that dates back to 2017and whose complaint was filed in July 2018.

The complaint in question was filed by Gregg Brooks, the film’s stage manager”City Of Lies. In 2017, while the film crew was filming in Los Angeles, an altercation would have taken place between the manager and the American actor about an expiring filming permit. Gregg Brooks would have been worried by the “instability” of Johnny Depp, and would have tried to contact the police.

A decision that would not have pleased the actor, who would have assaulted him. “Who the fuck do you think you are? You have no right to tell me what to do“, before punching him twice in the stomach. “I’ll give you $100,000 to punch me in the face“, would have added Johnny Depp.

The latter then justified his action by advocating self-defense, explaining that the stage manager had “provoked” the acts that caused his injuries. On the other side, it is said that the American actor “reeked” of alcohol at the time of the altercation. The two men would have finally been separated by bodyguards present on the set of the film. The trial will take place on July 25.

Johnny Depp’s drinking problems go back many years. Recall that during the trial against Amber Heard, David Kipper, the star’s former doctor, said he took care of him while he wanted to “detox from his substance abuse” during his engagement to Amber Heard in 2015, two years before the incident on the set of City of Lies. The doctor then confirmed that the 58-year-old actor would have been dependent on alcohol, opiates, but also Xanax.

Here is in any case a new judicial chapter which opens for Johnny Depp, who will have to face new legal problems.
