The two players trained with the team for the first time on Monday afternoon, as FC Barcelona announced. The ex-Dortmund Dembelé recovered from his knee tendon injury, because of which he also missed the European Championship. Aguero suffered from calf problems that have so far prevented Manchester City’s newcomer from making his first appearance for Barça. It remains uncertain whether the two attackers will play against Valencia on Sunday or whether they will be in the squad.
For Barça, the returnees come as if called: The Catalans are currently in ninth place in the Spanish league and are five points behind the top trio, consisting of the two Madrid clubs and Real Sociedad. They also got off to a very bad start in the Champions League with two defeats in two games. The last ray of hope was provided by youngster Gavi, who demonstrated his skills for Spain in the Nations League on the international stage in a 2-1 win over Italy.
