Dying Light 2: Techland promises new content for up to 5 years

Just like the developer did with the first title

Games as a service is something that has become increasingly common today, especially among online-focused titles. The Dying Light franchise may not be geared towards competitive multiplayer, but according to the developer, Techland, the second title Dying Light 2 Stay Hyman will receive new content for at least five years.

The developer said on Twitter that after the game’s release, it intends to expand the locations, events, and more. “Want to know what’s going to happen after launch? We’ve guaranteed to expand the world of Dying Light 2 Stay Human for at least five years after launch with new stories, locations, in-game events and all the fun stuff you love,” Techland said in the franchise’s official profile.

The studio’s strategy with the first title was somewhat similar, releasing new content and DLC years after the game’s release. The Dying Light Platinum Edition version comes with more than 20 extra items, from simple weapons and clothes, to expansions with many new features, such as Dying Light: The Following. The reaction to the tweet was quite positive from fans and followers, many citing Techland’s support of the first game.

Since it was announced, Dying Light 2 Stay Human has gained a web series showcasing various aspects of the game. The second title will bring everything that the first one brought, but in an expanded and improved form, in addition, of course, to the characteristics of the new game. The title was scheduled to be released last year, but suffered delays until the release date. February 4th this year.

Techland had recently tweeted that Dying Light 2 Stay Human would take 500 hours to complete. After the confusion generated by the massive amount of hours to finish the game, she corrected herself and said that the amount of hours would be needed to do everything that will be available in the game.

Now that we know the game is expected to receive new content for at least five years, it’s not hard to imagine playing it for 500 hours. Dying Light 2 Stay Human launches February 4th for PC, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox One.
