Drake’s first week sales of “Certified Lover Boy” were revealed, and it’s the biggest of the year
Drake officially has the longest-ever album debut of the year, ending the last seven days with 604,000 album-equivalent units sold to Certified Lover Boy. Previously, Kanye West had the biggest first week of this year with DONDA, selling 309,000 copies . Considering Drake nearly doubled Ye’s album sales, this is a pretty astronomical debut for Drizzy.
In addition to having the biggest first week of the year, Drake also had 700 million first week streams on CLB, the highest number of any music releases since its 2018 release Scorpion. Comparatively, Scorpion moved 731,000 units in its first week. While this is technically a downfall for Drake, it’s worth noting that the hot ‘God’s Plan’, released before the record came out, boosted numepro.
None of his albums sold below 400,000 in the first week, so he’s definitely still at the top. In 2016, Views sold over a million in the first week thanks to ‘One Dance’. On the other hand, Kanye West’s DONDA moved over 146,000 album units in its second week of release, solidifying a drop to #2 on the charts.
