The coach of Honduras, the Uruguayan Fabián Coito, was separated this Thursday after the 2-0 defeat against Jamaica on the sixth round of the Concacaf octagonal for the qualifying rounds of the Qatar 2022 World Cup, an official source reported.
In a statement, the Executive Committee and the Selection Commission of the Honduran Soccer Federation, reported the dismissal of Coito, which was presumed to occur due to the poor results obtained in the tie by the selection of the Central American country.
“Due to the latest result of the national team and after meeting with Professor Fabián Coito, both parties agreed that it was in the best interest of the national team to end the relationship that united them, with immediate effect,” the statement underlined.
“We thank Professor Coito and his coaching staff, who during the period in charge of everyone’s team, showed commitment, dedication, dedication, professionalism and commitment to the cause of all Hondurans,” said the Football Federation from Honduras.
Under the direction of Coito in the Concacaf qualifiers, Honduras drew three games, against Canada (1-1), El Salvador (0-0) and Costa Rica (0-0), and lost to the United States (4-1 ), Mexico (3-0) and Jamaica (2-0).
At the end of the sixth day, Honduras was placed in last place, and according to Coito after the game against Jamaica, the tie is not lost, but it is very difficult.
“We wish DT Fabián Coito the best of success in his sports career,” said the Honduran Soccer Federation.
So far it is unknown who will be the new coach of Honduras, who will play his next game against Panama in November.
