In the last seven days, Coahuila has experienced the worst week since the start of the pandemic with an official record of 7,459 new infections.

The Secretary of Health also reported 71 deaths.

These figures are the highest that have been registered in the entity, however the number of people hospitalized have not accelerated.

Official figures indicate that there are 203 occupied hospital beds. In Torreón there are 82 confirmed and suspected COVID patients. In Saltillo the number is 65 people hospitalized, in Piedras Negras 20, Monclova 23, San Juan de Sabinas 9 and Acuña 4 more.

Although the Omicron variant generates mild and moderate illnesses, the Ministry of Health has detected that the number of hospitalizations prevails among people who do not have any anti-COVID dose.

It is worth mentioning that throughout 2021 there were vaccination campaigns to immunize the population over 18 years of age. Currently third doses are applied to health personnel and people over 50 years of age.

A third dose is expected to be applied next week to those over 40 years of age.

Sanitary measures continue. Therefore, the use of face masks, social distancing of at least 1.5 meters between each person and giving preference to activities that take place outdoors is mandatory.
