CDMX: Traffic officers prevent a man from jumping off a bridge

MEXICO CITY.- Officials of the Undersecretary of Traffic Control and sectors of the Secretary of Citizen Securityto (SSC) of Mexico City, prevented a man from making an attempt on his life, when trying to jump from a vehicular bridge located in the Mayor Venustiano Carranza.

The events occurred when the Transit personnel performed their security and crime prevention functions on the avenue Fray Servando Teresa de Mier and its crossing with Francisco del Paso and Troncoso, in the Jardín Balbuena neighborhood, and were alerted by several citizens who indicated that a person crossed the protection railing of the vehicular bridge.

After the notice, monitors from the video surveillance cameras of the Command and Control Center (C2) North they maintained the follow-up and requested the support of medical personnel and other sector work teams.

Upon arrival at the site, the traffic police made contact with the 32-year-old man and with the precautions of the case they approached him and they established a dialogue of trust, they offered him a cigarette and while the ambulance arrived, they tried to convince him to desist from his intentions.

After a few minutes and when the unit of the Emergency Medical and Rescue Squad (ERUM) was at the scene, in a quick movement, the uniformed men held him by the waist to contain him and safeguard his physical integrity.

Subsequently, the ERUM paramedics treated the man and he was diagnosed with a nervous breakdown, without meriting hospital transfer, so, after informing him of his legal rights, he was presented before the Civic Judge who will define his legal situation.
