According to the CBAt selection criteria, up to four athletes will be called, best placed per event in the World Ranking by Points of World Atlhetics, in the adult category. In the Under-20 category, the WA Ranking Top List will be used, and the four highest ranked athletes of each gender will also be summoned. The call-up by category will take place as long as the athletes have the minimum required indices.

The indices must be reached from January 1, 2021 until February 7, 2022, one day after the South American Walking Championship, scheduled for February 5 and 6, in Lima, Peru.
