Marcelo Melo seeks another title

Marcelo Melo and Ivan Dodig continue to have a great start to the season. Seeds two of the ATP 250 of Adelaide 2, they beat the seeds of seven, the Mexican Santiago Gonzalez and the Argentine Andres Molteni, in a comeback, with partials of 3/6, 6/4 and 10-8.

“A very tight game today, against a duo that has been playing very well. We had played against them in Stockholm last year, we ended up losing. So we knew the game was going to be difficult. They started better. We took advantage of a breakout chance we had, in the second set, and then we were superior in the match tie-break, where we took advantage. This victory was important today. Now, one more game tomorrow (Friday) and we continue at this pace, game by game. It’s been very good and very important for us”, pointed out Marcelo.

Finally, in the singles bracket, Thiago Monteiro failed. After advancing through the withdrawal of Gael Monfils, the Brazilian faced Frenchman Couretin Moutet in the quarterfinals. But ended up defeated in straight sets, by double 6/4. So the Brazilian goes to the dispute of the Australian Open, in which he will debut against the French Benoit Paire.
