Admir Mehmedi is no longer part of the VfL Wolfsburg squad. The Swiss moves to Turkey with immediate effect and joins Antalyaspor.
Farewell from Wolfsburg: Admir Mehmedi.
Wolfsburg’s sports director Marcel Schäfer said on Thursday that the Swiss would be in “well advanced talks with a club” without being specific.
The Turkish first division club Antalyaspor, where the former Bundesliga professional Nuri Sahin is a coach, has now confirmed that they have signed the attacker.
Mehmedi has received a two-and-a-half-year contract with the Turks. The club did not provide any information about the exact modalities. According to kicker information, however, the attacker is moving on a free transfer, with VfL saving the 30-year-old’s lavish salary.
Mehmedi joined the Wolves from Leverkusen in 2018 and since then has played 84 games and scored 13 goals with VfL. In the current season he played no role in Lower Saxony.
