Tuesday, January 11, 2022, at the casino hall of Villers-sur-Mer (Calvados), 25 local residents officially launched the Lions Club from Villers-sur-Mer, with a presentation of badges and the reading of their personal commitments. “Villersois wanted to come together to do humanitarian and social work within the municipality,” says Arnaud Besnier, founder and president of the local Club, sponsored by the Deauville Club. “One Lions club must be sponsored by another.”
Actions to imagine and to come
The Lions Club is the world’s largest service club organization with 1.4 million members in more than 46,000 clubs in 220 countries and territories.
For its founder, the desire to create this association germinated a few years ago. “My dad is part of the Deauville Lions Club, and I had already accompanied him on a voluntary basis to organize certain actions, that gave me the taste, he explains. When the idea was quietly born in Villers, I thought it was a good idea to join this group that wanted to do something. »
Note that the presidency changes every year. “Each member goes up a notch so we already know the president of next year who will be Nathalie Bagot, the current vice-president.
Now that the Lions Club has been officially launched, its members will now be able to come together to imagine actions. “We already have ideas for actions to put in place that we will communicate once we have regrouped at 25”, indicates Arnaud Besnier.
